November - December 2025 Minister's Letter
November 3rd, 2025
By St Margaret's & St Georges Church
Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings, in the wonderful name of Jesus our Lord and Saviour.
As I write this message the wonderful colours of the autumn continue to beautify the surroundings. The colours of the leaves on the trees are amazing, as the green is overlaid with various shades of brown or even red. Yet we know that falling leaves and rain can cause us to slip or fall. Please take care!
Within the United Kingdom (UK), over the past months, we have seen a number of demonstrations against asylum seekers being housed in what we now call ‘Asylum Hotels’. In one area a school girl was allegedly harassed by an asylum seeker who was housed in one of the Asylum hotels. There is a strong push to find old army barracks to house the asylum seek away from society.
There has been a raise in nationalism, racial awareness and concerns are on the raise. Some issues are being fuelled by the Reformed party and others, to change the political backdrop. What should the government do? What is your view?
What is the Christian’s view? How can we as a Church, continue to build bridges and welcome others?
As a Church we continue to pray for those on our prayer list and offer prayer for those who request special prayers. Let us also remember in prayer, Br Donald and Sr Odette, who were recently involve in a motorcar accident.
May I encourage each of you to invite your children and young people to join you in Church? Your special invitation is price-less and could re-connect them to the Church. Your invitation will help to further strengthen their faith. Please pray for the children and young people known to you.
Our Natural Church Development (NCD) champion, Sr Heather A is a little happier at present. A few suggestions have been received in the Suggestion box in the Church. If you have any other ideas to strengthen our fellowship or to spread the gospel, please let us know. This time of the year our attention will also be turned toward ‘Advent, and moving towards ‘Christmas.’ Christmas reminds us of the birth of Jesus; Emmanuel, God coming to earth as one of us.
Do you remember the below Christmas carol:
O come, O come, Emmanuel, And ransom captive Israel. That mourns in lonely exile here, Until the Son of God appear! Chorus: Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel, Shall come to thee, O Israel. May I be the first to wish you a Happy Christmas and New Year.
Rev Edwin.
